WAYCROSS, Ga. – Memorial Satilla Health’s newest surgical robot has a new name – the Feel Better Bot. The hospital recently held a ceremony to announce the name. Members of the community were able to participate in a guided demonstration of the new system during the event.

The surgery robot’s name was chosen from submissions received from nearly 1,000 third grade students in Ware, Pierce and Brantley Counties. The naming competition was held last month. Elsie Middleton, a student at Nahunta Primary School, submitted the winning name.

Hospital administrators and staff voted on the top three names. The Board of Trustees then voted on the winning name. Elsie and her family attended the ceremony last week.

“As part of HCA Healthcare, we have access to more resources, better technologies and more possibilities for everyone who walks through our doors – like our new surgery robot. The addition of this technology will be a great asset to the communities we serve,” said CEO Dale Neely. “We are excited about this opportunity to provide an even greater level of care across multiple disciplines.”

The new system will aid Memorial Satilla’s expertly trained physicians in several surgical procedures including hernia repair, gallbladder removal, bariatric surgery and several gynecological surgeries.
