It’s been ten months since Tracy Jordan’s weight loss surgery and she’s got no regrets.
The Waycross native underwent a gastric bypass last September with Dr. Husain Abbas, bariatric surgeon at Memorial Satilla Health and HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville. She’s lost more than 70 pounds – and said goodbye to several other medical issues, too.
“I’ve been able to discontinue medication for diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. That success is immeasurable!” Tracy says.
“Dr. Abbas has been so supportive, and his bedside manner is exceptional. I would recommend anyone thinking about weight loss surgery to truly consider it and do their homework. I’m so glad I did,” Tracy continues.
Like many women, Tracy’s weight gain was a gradual process. She maintained a healthy, active lifestyle as a teenager and young adult, but started putting on weight in college. Her weight gain increased after having a baby and she struggled for years to lose the weight naturally.
“I had tried all kinds of diets and dietary supplements and would lose 10-20 pounds only to gain it all back and more,” Tracy says. “I started my journey toward surgery in 2022 but almost backed out, thinking I could try one more time to lose the weight on my own. I soon realized I needed more help and moved forward with the surgery, and I am so happy that I did.”
Tracy lives in Waycross. She was able to complete her pre-surgery prep and post-surgery follow ups here. Dr. Abbas performed her surgery in Jacksonville.
