After an injury, surgery or health crisis, we know you want to return to as many of your daily activities as possible. That’s why Memorial Satilla Health’s comprehensive rehabilitation programs offer a personalized approach to help you recover. We offer rehabilitation for patients of all ages — both in the hospital and in our outpatient rehabilitation center. Our therapies use leading-edge rehabilitation techniques and technology, and are designed to help you regain function, independence and a high quality of life.

Before inpatient treatment begins, a team of specialists will assess your needs and abilities. Physical therapists, medical social workers, speech pathologists, psychologists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation nurses and consulting physicians can be called in to provide your treatments, as necessary.

In outpatient therapy, the therapists customize each patient’s program around his or her individualized needs incorporating hands-on therapy with the latest technology. We carefully evaluate the condition and monitor the patient’s plan of care and regularly report the progress of treatment to the patient’s physician. Our professional staff includes licensed and certified therapists. They participate in continuing education to keep current with the latest modalities in rehab.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy (PT) restores maximum physical functioning and enables the individual to return to an active life as quickly as possible. The aim of a PT program is to restore movement and function, relieve pain, and prevent further illness and injury. Physical therapists evaluate and treat problems with moving, balance, strength, and conditioning. PT can be beneficial for people who have problems caused by burns, cancer, chronic pain, general rehabilitation issues, and balance disorders.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy (OT) helps the individual maximize independence and safety in daily living in the areas of self-care, leisure, and work. OT is skilled treatment that helps individuals achieve independence in all facets of their lives. Occupational therapy gives people the "skills for the job of living" that are needed for independent and satisfying lives. Services typically include customized treatment programs aimed at improving abilities to carry out the activities of daily living, comprehensive evaluation of home and job environments and recommendations on necessary adaptation, and guidance for family members and caregivers.

Speech/Language Therapy

Speech and language therapy helps a person improve communication and cognitive abilities as well as build confidence and greater independence. Dedicated to providing quality Speech Therapy Services, the therapists develop individualized programs to meet the needs of each patient. Our therapists can not only help you recover your language and cognitive skills but can teach you alternative ways to communicate, if needed. Speech therapy can also help if you have difficulty swallowing.
