You only have one heart, and we want to do all we can to help you keep it in good health. If you or a loved one has a heart or vascular condition, trust the experience of our specialized cardiac team. Memorial Satilla Health provides exceptional cardiac care close to home.

Personalized Care, Proven Results

Whether you have a cardiac emergency or a planned procedure our outstanding cardiac care is designed to achieve the best results possible for each patient. We work in multidisciplinary teams that collaborate on your behalf. This team concept brings together all our cardiac experts and doctors from related specialties. Each specialty works to support your diagnosis and treatment.

Your Heart

The normal heart is a strong, muscular pump a little larger than a fist. Each day, the average heart "beats" (expands and contracts) 100,000 times and pumps about 2,000 gallons of blood. In a 70-year lifetime, an average human heart beats more than 2.5 billion times. The heart pumps blood to the lungs and to all the body’s tissues by a sequence of highly organized contractions of its four chambers. For the heart to function properly, the four chambers must beat in an organized manner.

Heart Treatments

We offer a full range of treatment solutions for many heart and vascular conditions. Using such diagnostic tools as heart catheterizations, electrocardiograms (ECG), echocardiograms (ECHO), exercise stress tests and nuclear studies, the Heart Center team searches for signs of heart and blood vessel disease. When further procedures are required, the Heart Center is ready with the technology, staff and experience. Working with other physicians and Memorial Satilla Health’s team of cardiovascular nurses, radiology technologists, and nuclear technologists, cardiologists on the medical staff perform more than 1,100 cardiac catheterizations in a typical year, as well as other advanced procedures.

Emergency Heart Care

Our cath lab is prepared 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond immediately to cardiac emergencies. Cardiologists and nurses certified in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) provide rapid response care for patients experiencing heart problems. Those patients experiencing a heart attack are taken to the Cath Lab and immediate intervention is provided by using cardiac stents and angioplasty. Our door-to-balloon average time is 65 minutes.

When even more advanced treatment is required, Memorial Satilla Health is partnered with hospitals in Jacksonville. From emergency treatment for sudden heart attacks to long-term rehabilitation, the Heart Center doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to providing pacesetting heart care to the region.

Convenience, Privacy, Reassurance

Heart caring at the Memorial Satilla Health Heart Center involves not only advanced medicine but also our personal concern for patients and families. That includes making it as simple as possible to arrange for your procedure. Registration, lab work and procedures all take place in the privacy and convenience of one location. The Heart Center team of caring professionals takes times to explain your care every step of the way, answering questions and offering our special brand of personal attention.
