Memorial Satilla joins HCA Healthcare's community volunteerism effort
During National Volunteer Month, Memorial Satilla Health colleagues collected 4,387 items to be donated to DC Downtown Food Ministry, The Salvation Army, Pierce County Food Pantry and Waynesville Church of God Food Bank.
Memorial Satilla Health is one of many HCA Healthcare hospitals that participated in the organization’s We Show Up for Our Communities week of service in April.
“Our annual Food Drive is the perfect opportunity for us to work together in support of our community partners,” said CEO Dale Neely. “I am proud of the commitments we make to our community and the impact we make on our patients, neighbors and each other. When we see a need in our community, we step forward. We show up.”
The emergency department won Memorial Satilla’s friendly internal competition by donated 968 items to the drive. The imaging department came in second with a donation of 522 items and the Hospital Auxiliary took third place, donating 456 items.
Hospital administrators also volunteered their time to distribute groceries at DC Downtown Food Ministry during the drive.
As part of HCA Healthcare, Memorial Satilla is committed to creating healthier tomorrows in the communities where we live and work through volunteering time, making charitable donations and partnering with other organizations. We Show Up for Our Communities is part of HCA’s enterprise-wide focus to not only provide the quality healthcare our patients deserve, but to also show up to address needs in our community.
