Memorial Satilla Awarded Spring 2026 'A' Hospital Safety Grade

Memorial Satilla Health received its ninth “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit upholding the standard of patient safety in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. This national distinction celebrates Memorial Satilla’s achievements in prioritizing patient safety by protecting patients from preventable harm and errors.

“I’m excited to announce our A rating from the Leapfrog Group. We recognize the importance of measuring quality and safety in patient care and are proud of our dedicated physicians, nurses, and colleagues who provide our patients with exceptional care each day,” said CEO Damon Barrett.

Memorial Satilla is one of 20 hospitals in the state to receive an A rating in the most recent survey. Approximately 25 percent of hospitals in the state currently have an A rating.

Since 2012, The Leapfrog Group has assigned a letter grade to general hospitals across the country based on 32 national performance measures. The Safety Grade rates hospitals on the very basics of medical care, such as handwashing, blood infections, patient falls, entering prescriptions through a computer, and the availability of highly-trained nurses.

The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring. To see Memorial Satilla’s full grade details, visit the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade website.
