The Nutrition and Food Services Department is committed to providing high-quality food and excellent service. We know how important balanced and healthy foods are to our patients and guests.
Registered Dietitians are credentialed through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and work collaboratively with other health care providers to provide nutrition care in the treatment of patients. Services include nutrition assessment, medical nutrition therapy and individualized nutrition care plans.
Diets are prescribed to meet individual needs with regards to patient preferences and intolerances/allergies. If the diet prescribed by your physician is new to you, a Registered Dietitian is available to provide education and answer any questions you may have about your new diet. Once you are home, if you still have questions, call (912) 287-4271.
Nutrition education for the prevention and management of chronic diseases is an essential component of wellness. Registered Dietitians are available to provide nutrition counseling for individuals seeking lifestyle changes. These one-on-one sessions provide nutrition education for a variety of needs, including but not limited to weight control, diabetes management, cardiac rehabilitation and healthy eating.
A physician referral is required for insurance purposes. Medicare covers diabetic patients and patients with Chronic Kidney Disease Stages 1-4. It is recommended that persons interested in private nutritional consultation check with their insurer to determine their coverage.
